An account of a bike trip to the Italian Alps (Bormio), (and a bit of Switzerland) in September 2008.

Two blokes from the Lake District (Allan & Stu) and four from Scotland (Brian, George, Richard & Sadiq) descended on Bormio in the Italian Alps, to be joined for a couple of days by a native (Mauro Posarelli from Castelfiorentino) for a magical 5 days, riding some of the high passes in the area.

The legend that is the Passo Stelvio had been on my itinerary for a few years.  Between us, we'd expanded that to include the equally legendary Mortirolo and Gavia passes, and anything else we'd regard as a bonus!

There was a wide range of abilities on the trip, basically me at one end, and the other six at, shall we say, the 'top' end, but I think I speak for us all when I say we all had a fantastic time.

Use the Rides menu at the top of the page to read about each days events.
Likewise, the Gallery menu contains loads of pictures of each days ride, and I defy any cyclist having seen some of those not to be itching to get out there.
The Mechanics link gives info on travelling with the bikes, where we stayed, route planning etc.

Finally, if you've any comments or want any more info, share your experiences etc, then please don't hesitate to contact me using the Contact link above.

Enjoy! (we did).
