An account of a 6 day bike trip based in Arabba in the Italian Dolomites in September 2009.
After last years tremendous trip to
Bormio in the Italian Alps,
we just had to have a repeat (and we're hoping it'll be an annual
event!).
This time we headed for the Italian Dolimiti region and based
ourselves in Arabba at the foot of the Pordoi and Campolongo passes.
Four blokes from the Lake District (Allan, Konrad, Glenn & Stu) one from Scotland (Richard) and a southerner (Jon) from Devon descended on Arabba, to be joined for three days by a native Italian (Mauro Posarelli from Castelfiorentino).
Konrad and myself had been in this area 7 years previously when we toured from Treviso, through the Dolomites and into Austria, so we knew the area fairly well. The difference would be the '7 years'! Could we still hack it? I recall the Passo Fedaia in atrocious weather nearly killed me 7 years ago. Here was its chance to finish me off.
I'd be riding the tandem with Konrad this time around - the Tre
Cime di Lavaredo - on a tandem - would it be harder than a solo bike
with panniers we wondered?
Use the Rides menu at the top of the page to read about each days
events.
Likewise, the Gallery menu contains loads of pictures of each
days ride.
The Mechanics link gives info on travelling with the
bikes/tandem, where we stayed, route planning etc.
Finally, if you've any comments, want any more info, or to share your experiences etc, then please don't hesitate to contact me using the Contact link above.
Enjoy! (we did - again).
